Wig-Wag Replaced

My Bob Hann wig-wag module has had issues from the start. The taxi light on the left was not as bright as the other side, and the wig-wag functioned intermittently. At first I thought that one of the Duckworks lights was 50 watts, instead of 100 like the other side. When I eventually got around to troubleshooting this, I found the light on the left side was only getting 7 volts. Changing the plug from the wig-wag module, I could move the problem to the other landing light. This established that I had a 100 watt light in each wing, and the wiring going out to each wing was OK. The issue was with the module itself. It took a while to get a hold of Bob, but I eventually learned that he has stopped selling the unit because there are better and cheaper alternatives out there. Despite the fact my module was out of warranty, he spent some time on the phone with me troubleshooting. In the end he suggested I check out the alternative from Electric Bob. I did. I also considered the flasher offered my Perihelion Design. It looked pretty good, and easy to set up, but I would have to make some changes to the layout of my panel and stick grip to use it. So I went with Bob's option instead.

I mounted the flasher and relay on a piece of AL so that I could use the same holes used to secure the old wig-wag unit. Some of the wiring behind the panel had to be changed, but that wasn't too difficult, thanks to the access panels.

Old wig-wag on the left, new on the right.
