Cowl Interior

January 1, 2005 9:45 PM

Recent engine oil leaks have made me wish I had better finished the inside of the cowl. I had originally put adhesive aluminum foil inside the cowl to protect it from the heat. It worked great, but the cowl itself still absorbed oil like a sponge. So I remove the foil, clean everything up and applied some high-temp paint. It seals the fiberglass and is supposedly good to 1200 degrees F. Color is aluminum, of course. I'll also reapply the aluminum foil.

I took the opportunity to increase the exit area a little but cutting off a little of the aft edge. This should help the CHT's a little.
