Memorial Day 2006

May 29, 2006 5:36 PM

For the long Memorial Day weekend, we rendezvoused with three other RV's overhead BUY and then flew down to Grand Strand for some R & R. Our late afternoon Friday departure was delayed because of storms. But Saturday morning was cool and smooth and a little tailwind provided ground speeds of about 185 KTS.

The priority was this weekend was to relax, and that we did. Saturday night we had dinner at The Melting Pot. Delicious (but they didn't sing Happy Birthday to Cindy).

Wayne & Cindy.

Len & Donna, Stormy & Miriam.

We returned home mid-day Monday. At 6,500' MLS it was 65 degrees F, smooth and great visibility. Much better than the hot humid haze below. We fell a little behind the others on the way home as I fiddled with the engine controls trying to maximize economy. At 21.5/2300 I saw about 150 KTS TAS & 6.7 GPH using the lean untill rough, enrich untill smooth technique. That's better mileage than my truck, and still three times as fast!

Another great weekend brought to you by the letters R & V and the number eight. :)
