Empennage Progress

August 27, 2006 9:49 PM

The RV-7 horizontal stabilizer has been progressing quickly. No major problems, but I found that the rivets called for in much of the HS rear spar where too short. I just used some longer ones I had on hand from the RV-8 construction.

RV-8 builder Carter Wright came over to help with the two-person areas of the stabilizer. Lots of progress made. Thanks!!

I spent another couple hours closing the rest of the HS. In all, about 23.5 hours. Compare this to 94.5 hours to do my RV-8 horizontal stabilizer back in 1998. WOW!

Larry- Great seeing you at the Wings Weekend last Saturday. Love the site- you still owe me a ride! Keep an eye out for a nice RV-6, I may be looking.

Larry: I am expecting you to fly the new RV-7 up to Mountain Air this summer, so you better start working hard! I have just started a new plane, a Zenith 601XL. Figured I would try something that didn't require bucking this time!

Cheers from Toronto!
