Mounting Flaps

December 24, 2007 9:38 PM
I drilled, primed and riveted the second half of the flap hinge to each wing.  After taking a couple weeks to build the RV-8 slow-build flaps years ago, it's very cool to be able to "finish" the RV-7 quick build flaps in a weekend.

I used the same technique of securing the flap hinge pin to the flap brace as I did with the RV-8.  Tuck the bent end behind a lightning hole in the flap brace.  It doesn't get any simpler.

Hi Larry,
I am just curious why did you sell the 8 to build a 7?

I really enjoyed building the first plane, so I wanted to do it again. The RV-8 was great and I have no regrets doing it. However, if I'm going to do this again, I might as well change it up a little bit so I chose the RV-7. I even considered a Supercub type kit, but I'm not ready to give up the speed of the RV just yet.
