Pam and I met several area RVers at Carthage BBQ for lunch using Len's plane. Yummy.

Oshkosh 2008

July 28, 2008 9:17 PM
I took a commercial flight to Wisconsin to see the family for a week and take a day-trip to Airventure at Oshkosh.  The big plane related news from the trip was that I ordered an engine for the RV-7.  It's a TMXIO360 from Mattituck.  180 HP, roller tappet, Airflow Performance fuel injection, forward facing sump, dual Lightspeed Plasma II Plus ignition, etc.  The Red Gold package is included with the roller tappet engines.  I'm currently planning on a Whirlwind 200RV prop for this engine.  It should be a butter-smooth combination!

Time to put the airplane construction back into high gear!

Nifty's Departure

November 13, 2007 10:12 PM
Sold. It's done. The RV-8 that we spent 6.5 years creating from a pile of parts, and enjoyed for three years and 366 hours of adventure is moving to a new home near Seattle, WA.  So long, Nifty. You will be missed...

Video of the ferry pilot's departure from Twin Lakes (8A7) is below.  This is the first time anyone other than myself has been at the controls of the plane while it's running, not to mention flying.  Emotionally and psychologically, it was a very weird thing to watch.
